The Body of the Story: Reading & Writing Illness Narratives as Medicine

Solace & Story:

Solace & Story: The Chronix Narrative Medicine Workshop for Caregivers

The first time I led a workshop for caregivers, one of the participants uttered, "Caregiving is the most beautiful horrible experience," and it rang true - the words reverberated in the space and I knew we had entered the sweet spot. The sweet spot is that ineffable pulsing space that opens when we feel safe to show up in our full authentic selves and we are connected to others in shared focused witness of our truths. I first experienced this in writing workshops as a teenager, and I fell in love with it. This workshop is a space that is wide and deep enough to hold you, no matter what kind of day you’ve had, no matter what you’re thinking or feeling or worrying about.

This self-paced workshop is an opportunity for you to devote the time for yourself to rest with a poem, a page from a graphic novel, a short story or a film, and be inspired and supported to write your own story.

Find your way into the pleasure of reading and writing, through eight sessions of evocative readings, guidance and inspiration to write your own story, including two half hour private sessions with me to support you through the revision process to a complete piece.

"I can’t believe I can still feel pleasure in reading a poem." - T.D., New York City
